On August 1, 2005, North Dakota's smoke-free law went into effect. The law prohibits smoking in all enclosed areas of public places and places of employment, with some exceptions. The law reflects the state's commitment to protect the health of its citizens and recognizes the right of individuals to breathe smoke-free air.
SECTION 3. A new section to chapter 23-12 of the North Dakota Century Code is created and enacted as follows:
Posting of signs. A sign must be posted in every public place and place of employment where smoking is prohibited by section 23-12-10 clearly indicating that smoking is prohibited.
