According to the 2018 International Building Code Section 1025.2.6.1, emergency exit doors are required to be identified with a luminous emergency sign that complies with NFPA 170.
The luminance of our Glow Emergency Exit Door Signs measures over 20 mcd/m2 (milicandela per square meter) after 10 minutes in full darkness; and 2.8 mcd/m2 after 60 minutes in full darkness. These signs also meet and exceed the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standard E2072. If UL 924 compliance is needed, please see our AlumaGlow Exit Sign.
Emergency exit signs are mostly green or red in color. Where OSHA does not specify a particular color but only requires that any color or color combinations used be readily visible and contrasting against the wall. NFPA allows users to choose from green or red. Local building codes may prescribe certain specific color requirements and it may be a good idea to check with them.
It sure can be. The sturdy 5VA flame retardant LED exit sign has a high-impact, thermoplastic housing that is damp location rated. It comes with a 4.8V long-life, maintenance-free, rechargeable NiCd battery that lasts a minimum of 90 minutes for emergency illumination.
